SW, Sunday
The Antelope Canyon near Page, AZ, is a narrow, twisty passage formed a bit (geologically) back by water. The Navajo run the guided tours (what a great bunch of folks), checking with three ranger stations each morning. If it's raining in those mountains waaay down there to the south, the tours are closed. Getting caught in that fissure during a flash flood...not good. Seven folks died in '97; hence the precautions. Anyhow, all the iron from the most recent (geologically) deposition layer lends the reddish cast, and quartz crystals pick up the color and spread it about, especially in the morning. The Lower canyon tour is less crowded and a bit longer at a quarter mile than the Upper; I was about an hour and a half, lingering with my four cameras (counting my phone -- for Facebook of course!) toward the rear of the group. French, German, Dutch I think and Spanish were prevalent.
